About Us

Jaivik Haat was founded as an idea of connecting farmers and end consumers.  Founded by Ashish and Priyanka Gupta (both having worked in the IT and Intellectual Property domain with a collective experience of 15 years in the corporate world), it was a result of extensive travels, travails, and good wishes across the length of the country; and interacting with farmers, co-operatives, producer companies and other organic food proponents.  It came as a surprise to us that our country is already a land of surplus Organic Farming produce, however market fragmentation, lack of government policy and disinterest of private entities has led to a fundamental disconnect between the producers and the consumers.  To address this problem Jaivik Haat was established in November 2009.

Jaivik Haat works closely with farmers and other operators in the Organic and Natural Food Sector. We are firmly tied with the idea of supporting farmer collectives and the spirit of Participatory Guarantee System (PGS). It is our goal that we promote as many PGS certified products as we can, however the supply chain for these products is yet in its infancy. In addition we would like to endeavour to improve the economic conditions of the farmers associated with us to ensure that they get fair market prices.

Meanwhile, we endeavour to provide our customers with what is best available to ensure that the kitchens are well supplied with a good range. We will do our best to ensure that your family is served a variety of Organic and Natural foods sourced from far reaches of the country and made available at your doorsteps. This way even if our actions contribute to a fraction of making our farmers “Toxic Chemical free” and our consumer disease free, we would have satisfied ourselves with this achievement.

We always remind ourselves that the farmer is the food giver (Annadaata.) and only in his health and happiness can our society prosper.  A happy and stress free farmer does not want to feed poison and chemically laced food to his consumers. However stressful market conditions and current policies force him to follow a path otherwise.  If we can harmonize this disconnect with the farmer and consumer then it will be a great achievement for our generations.

We encourage you to allow our traditional crops and millets to become a part of your daily diet and shun unhealthy foods such as refined sugars and oils. There is indeed a tasty and nutritious diet beyond wheat and rice. Feel free to refer and share with us information on nutritional options, recipes and any other interesting food facts which will enrich us both.

We are thankful to our existing customers (who are also now friends of Javik Haat) for their patronage and hope to make many such friends on the way forward.
